Windows 10 Support ended today
Microsoft has finally ended support for Windows 10 and from here on out, There will be no more security updates for Windows 10 which means you will have to upgrade to Windows 11.
Now usually, This isn't a bad thing at all. Software at some point has to evolve to meet popular demands & Operating Systems do get outdated. However this is totally different. In order to upgrade to Windows 11, You need a TPM 2.0 on your CPU. What you need to know about TPM 2.0 (Besides the fact that it's a hardware-based security module that helps) that purposed is that it only exists for CPUs that were manufactured after 2017 (Intel 8th Gen and upwards, AMD Ryzens should support TPM 2.0 too.). Now this seems pretty old but that would mean perfectly viable CPUs that are not obsolete would suddenly not be supported because of this requirement. This means that a lot of perfectly good and powerful hardware is now potential e-waste if someone doesn't know how to upgrade. In addition, Windows 11 has some pretty hefty System Requirements (For an OS) that would definitely bloat a lot of computers.
The solution? Simply use Linux. And preferably, Any Debian-based OS as that has the most support of any Linux distro because chances are, You probably don't do that much on your computer. Unless you are gaming or using Adobe products (Which likely means your computer meets all the requirements for Windows 11), You probably spend your time browsing the internet. If you are in a situation where you need Windows programs. Wine will do mostly fine (If you can, WinApps is even better). And with it's open source nature and the fact that most malware runs on primarily Windows, You are unlikely to run into any sort of viruses or issues. For most PCs, Linux Mint is easily the best but if you need something more lightweight. Lubuntu can work too.
Either way, Your "out of date" hardware is PERFECTLY USABLE! As long as people understand that, Then I am totally happy.
